For Carmen
Carmen and her family are my "why", the reason I've been fundraising for money as well as raising awareness for Scleroderma.
Carmen lived and fought with her illness for many years, all while being a wife, mother, student, and then teacher. She continued to pursue her dreams even through some of the toughest times.
Carmen's son, Dominic, was only 11 years old when she left this earth. Now Dominic is pursuing his own dreams just like his mom taught him, and has a beautiful 5-year-old son, Darien. I know in my heart Carmen is with her entire family, constantly protecting, guiding, and pushing them to make it count.
While we are unable to attend the event this year in person, my commitment to raising awareness is as strong, if not stronger, as it was 14 years ago when we started "Carmen's Crew" for the Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma walk in Coconut Creek. I hope that even though we cannot attend the event this year in person, you will support me and her "Crew".
Carmen will always be my inspiration, as well as Dominic & Darien, and of course her mom, dad & brother, and his wife, who I love so very much. This is for all of you..
