2026 Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma

FAQs

The Stepping Out for the Cure walks are the signature awareness and fundraising events of the National Scleroderma Foundation. These inspiring events, organized across the country by the local chapters, bring people together who strive to raise awareness and funding for vital research and programming.

Please use the FAQs below to find information about fundraising tools, teams, and more. In some of the questions, we've even included helpful tutorial videos that show you how to work with your fundraising dashboard.

Registration

Does my registration fee count toward my fundraising goal?

add remove

Yes! All registration fees count toward an entrant's fundraising goal and will show on your fundraising page as a donation.

How do I join a particular team?

add remove

You'll have the option to select the team you wish to join during registration. You can also locate the team's fundraising page and use the "Join Us" button in the top portion of the page.

I made a donation to another entrant. Does this mean I'm registered to participate?

add remove

No, donations are not the same as registrations. In order to register, please select your event from the Stepping Out homepage and click the Register button.

I registered additional people with me. Do they need to do anything? Where do they enter their t-shirt size?

add remove

Yes, thanks for asking! Anyone you added using the Multiple Entries step of registration will receive an email invitation to activate their registration. Please tell the people you registered to check their email, and to use the link in the email invite to activate their account and finalize their registration info. This will enable them to complete the event waiver and enter their t-shirt size.

Please note: an additional entrant (someone added and paid for by a person other than themselves) will not receive event communication or show up on the website until they activate their account. If they're not receiving the email, suggest they check their spam or junk folders. If you need an email resent or to check the email address that was entered, please contact us via specialevents@scleroderma.org

Someone registered me but I'm not showing on the website or team page. How can I fix this?

add remove

If someone registered and paid for you, they would have entered your email address. You will receive an invitation to activate your registration. You must use the link in your invite email to activate your account and finalize your registration details. This will also enable you to complete the event waiver and enter your t-shirt size.

If you're not receiving the email, please check your spam or junk folders. If you're still not receiving the email, please email specialevents@scleroderma.org to confirm your email address was entered correctly.

Fundraising

What tools are available to help me fundraise? Can I send emails to ask for donations?

add remove

You can reach out to friends and family by logging in to your personal fundraising dashboard. View this how-to tutorial about getting support via your dashboard.

How do I login to my fundraising dashboard?

add remove

From any page, click the Login option at the top right of your screen (appears as a person icon on mobile). Use the email address with which you registered and the password you created.

If someone else registered you and you haven't activated your registration via an email invitation (Subject line: Come and Join your team), please check for that email first. This will enable you to activate your registration and set your password.

If you forgot your password, you can reset it at any time using the "Forgot password?" option just under the email address and password fields on the login page.

How do I update my fundraising goal and/or my personal fundraising page?

add remove

Login to your personal dashboard to edit your goal and update your page. Watch an overview video if you need some help.

I sent a fundraising email and want to reuse it. Can I see what I sent? Can I save a draft?

add remove

Once you send an email from your dashboard, you will not be able to view the text. We recommend you send a copy of the email to yourself, so you can cut and paste as needed.

There's no way to save a draft of your email in your personal dashboard. A pro tip is to save the email content in your own email drafts folder or create a separate Word doc (or Google Docs, text file, Notes, notepad editor... whatever your digital heart desires!) from which you can copy and paste as needed.

I participated previously. Can I access a list of my donors or contacts from my previous participant center?

add remove

Due to a change in the software platform we're using, participant center data from previous years is not available in your fundraising dashboard. Please reach out to your local chapter Executive Director with questions or email agraham@scleroderma.org.

Where can I send check donations I received?

add remove

Please send all money orders and checks to:

National Scleroderma Foundation
Attn: Walk Name
P.O. Box 411533
Boston, MA 02241-1533

Please make sure the name of the participant and/or team to whom the donation should be credited is in the memo line of the check.

You can also bring cash and checks with you to the walk event to turn in at the check-in/registration table.

Teams

I am a returning Team Captain. Can I access a list of my team donors or team members from my previous participant center?

add remove

Due to a change in the software platform we're using, participant center data or team data from previous years is not in this year's fundraising dashboard.

Please reach out to your local chapter Executive Director with questions or email agraham@scleroderma.org.

Someone on my team is showing as "Not yet active". What does this mean?

add remove

If someone is showing on your team page as "Not yet active", it means they haven't completed their registration.

If the teammate was added by someone else and their registration was already paid for, they must use the link in an invitation email to activate their account and finalize their registration.

Please tell your inactive teammate to check their email for an email (subject line: Come and Join your team). Check spam or junk folders, as well. If you're still not seeing the email, email us at specialevents@scleroderma.org to have the email resent or check the email address that was entered.

If someone tried to register themselves and wasn't able to complete it (didn't pay the registration fee), they will still show on as a Team Member but as "Not yet active". You can check in with your teammate and let them know they must complete their registration to participate.

Someone said they are registered but they're not showing on the team. How do I fix this?

add remove

If someone says they registered but they are not showing up on the website, it's possible they are inactive or made a donation instead of completing the registration process.

If they're inactive, they will show under Team Members as "Not yet active", (login, go to My Team section of your dashboard, select Team Members).

This means they were registered by another person and have yet to activate their own account. Teammates added by someone else must click the link in an invitation email to complete their registration.

Please tell your inactive teammate to check their email for a message from us (subject line: Come and Join your team). Check spam or junk folders, as well. If you're still not seeing the email, email us at specialevents@scleroderma.org to have the email resent or check the email address that was entered.

If they made a donation instead of registration, please ask them to complete the registration process or contact specialevents@scleroderma.org for more information.
