My Story and Thank you!

Thanks so much for helping me raise money for Scleroderma research. I was diagnosed with Scleroderma in 2015. Scleroderma is a rare, autoimmune disease that thickens and stiffens connective tissues throughout the body. For me it has lead to scarring in my lungs (pulmonary fibrosis), stiffness of my blood vessels and decreased motility of my GI tract. Earlier last year, I also developed pulmonary hypertension, high pressure in the blood vessels between the heart and lungs. The most debilitating aspect of these illnesses has been a chronic cough. The cough has been so annoying that it led to my 'work retirement' in 2024. But, even though I have trouble holding professional conversations, I'm still talking (between coughs) - just ask my family - and I'm volunteering.

Scientists, health professionals and patients are working hard to find new treatments for the symptoms (like cough, shortness of breath and stomach reflux) but they are also trying to find better overall treatments and a cure.  Help me make a difference in this research. Thank you. Donna
