It's that time of year again as we come together for the Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma Atlanta, GA event, and we're so grateful for your support.

We walk in loving memory of my extraordinarily beautiful Mom—inside and out—who lived her life sharing God’s love with others and giving of herself wholeheartedly. Her strength, grace and compassion continue to inspire me every day. One thing she said still echoes in my heart: “Scleroderma can’t touch the soul.”  Her words speak to the faith and resilience she showed—and to the hope we carry forward.

Scleroderma is a rare and often misunderstood autoimmune disease that causes the body's immune system to attack its own tissues. It is a chronic condition that leads the body to produce too much collagen, which can result in hardening and tightening of the skin and, in many cases, can have a significant impact on internal organs. It is often difficult to diagnose early. 

My Mom endured misdiagnosis and delays that cost her precious time and limited her options for care. We walk to bring greater awareness so others do not have to face the same uncertainty and heartbreak.
