In honor of my beautiful mommy, Blanca, I created a team for this year’s Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma walk: 

Butz Kicking Scleroderma — Blanca’s Army💜

As many of you may know, my mom battled scleroderma for 20 years before she surrendered her fight in May 2025. Scleroderma was such a huge part of her story, but it never defined who she was. Scleroderma limited the full life Blanca had wished for. She didn’t just battle Scleroderma, she rose above it, inspiring everyone around her with her strength and resilience. Although this diagnosis challenged Blanca and took away some of the life she deserved, she faced it with incredible courage and perseverance, refusing to let it define her and kicking its ass every step of the way.

This walk means so much more to me than simply raising money. It’s a way for us to honor Mom, keep her memory alive, raise awareness for a disease that changed our family forever, and hopefully help move us closer to a future where other families don’t have to experience the same loss and struggles. 

I would absolutely LOVE to have our friends and family join Blanca’s Army and walk alongside us in her memory🕊️  If you aren’t able to participate but would still like to support us, donations of any amount are deeply appreciated. Our goal is $1,000 and every donation goes toward supporting the fight against scleroderma through research, education, awareness, and resources for patients and their families.
